Notice of Cancellation of Art Beyond the Divide show
21 September 2021
While we were all hopeful that things would work out and we would be able to have the Art Beyond the Divide (ABtD) show, with Mitchell Shire now in a regional lock down and the Victorian Government’s roadmap for reopening not set to see public gatherings until November/December (depending on vaccination levels), the S&DAS has made the difficult, but unavoidable, decision to cancel this year’s ABtD show.
This decision was not taken lightly, given that the show is the highlight of the Society’s show calendar. For this reason, the S&DAS Committee took the decision to cancel the show to a general meeting of members, following the ABtD organising committee’s recommendation to cancel. The general meeting of members endorsed that recommendation.
We understand that members will be deeply disappointed, but with the Tastes of the Goulbourn festival cancelled and Melbourne visitors unlikely to be able to travel regionally in October (including one of our AbtD judges), as well as strict limitations on numbers of people in indoor venues likely to still be in place, the COVID-related logistics for holding the show have simply made it untenable, even if the local lock down is lifted in time.
All entries will be refunded, and sponsors and supporters will be contacted to inform them of the cancellation of the show.
While this is a disappointing development, the S&DAS Committee are hopeful that, should the lockdown restrictions ease, we will be able to hold a special 3 day members only Christmas show in December. We look forward to announcing further details shortly.
If anyone has any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact the Committee.
