Valma Crerar

Picture
(born 1935)

As long as I can remember I loved paintings. But in my early years I enjoyed playing sport more - so it was not until I was about thirty years old that I got serious about giving this painting a go, so enrolled in an oil class.

In the following years I learned from various tutors.

Everything changed after I attended an exhibition of porcelain painting, I just had to learn that medium. I went on to teach, spending about twenty years very involved.

Recently I have returned to easel painting, mainly water colour and my new found friend, acrylic. I paint in a realist style; I like texture in the work so often use a palette knife to apply paint. Subjects I prefer - landscapes and flowers.
