Art Beyond the Divide 2026

See work from some of the best artists in Victoria alongside emerging artists across a range of mediums and styles as we transform the industrial winery at Wine X Sam in Seymour. 
November 27, 28 and 29.

Art Beyond the Divide is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy and celebrate art. 

Categories

Thanks to our 2026 sponsors we've got $6350 across 14 prizes and 12 categories confirmed for 2026 including a new miniatures category for work under 25cm. 
Category
Medium
Oil
Oil only paints - traditional, water soluble, alkyd oil
Acrylic
Acrylic only paints - acrylic tubes, acrylic pens, acrylic gouache, acrylic inks
Watercolour
Only watercolour based - tubes, pans, watercolour crayons, watercolour pens, gouache, watercolour inks, line and wash, watercolour sticks, watercolour pencils 
Pastel
Only pastel -  sticks, pencils, soft, oil, pan
Mixed media
Any 2 or more mediums as well as fabric, paper, beads, lace, ribbon etc
Digital painting
Digital original works where digital tools such as Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop or similar are used to produce a digital painting from scratch or from a scanned, hand drawn base
3D
Any 3D artwork in any material eg clay, wood, metal
Drawing
Drawing with pencil, pen, crayon, charcoal, colour, monochrome, line, shadin, engraving, printing and linocut
Photography
Original photograph - processed either traditionally or digitally using recognised photo processing software such as Photoshop or similar. Enhanced photography creating special effects eligible, provided original photograph has been used as base. 
Seymour challenge
Any medium, featuring Kings Park, Seymour. There must be an identifiable landmark from Kings Park within your artwork. 
Miniatures
New category for 2026. Work under 25cm x 25cm.  2D only. These are in additon to any small, medium or large entries.  
Young artist
18 and under, any medium

Entry dates
  • Entries open Monday 28 September and close 11.59pm, Sunday 1 November
  • Drop off at Wine X Sam, Seymour on Thursday 26 November 8.30am to 12pm
  • Pick up unsold work from Wine x Sam, Seymour on Sunday 29 November 3.30pm to 4.30pm
Delivery and pick up
  • Wine x Sam, 59-71 Anzac Avenue, Seymour
  • Entries must be delivered on Thursday 26 November between 8.30am and 12pm. No  late drop offs will be accepted.
  • Pick up any unsold entries must be on Sunday 29 November between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Receipt/confirmation is required for handover.
exhibition DATES
Exhibition weekend
  • 7pm to 9pm, Friday 27 November - opening night (free entry for exhibiting artists,  extra tickets available to purchase) 
  • 10am to 4pm, Saturday 28 November - exhibition viewing
  • 10am to 3pm, Sunday 29 November - exhibition viewing, People's Choice Award announcement and raffle draw at the end of the show
  • Wine x Sam cellar door will be open during the exhibition
other conditions
  • Up to 5 small, medium or large works (including no more than 2 large works), and up to 2 miniature works.
  • Example: an artist could submmit 2 large works, 3 medium or small works and 2 miniatures (7 in total) 
  • Each entry is only eligible for one prize (except for People's Choice award)
  • Artwork must be available for sale, 20% commission to Seymour and District Art Society
  • Judges’ decisions are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  • Seymour & District Art Society reserves the right to refuse entries that cannot be safely displayed or have other issues that do not meet these conditions.
  • Entries may be used for promotion of the Art Beyond the Divide exhibition.

Some changes have been made to category sizes for 2026 with the introduction of a new miniatures category. Please check sizes closely for your category.

We have introduced a new miniature category this year and adjusted the sizes in the other categories. Please check your size before submitting your entry. 

2D entry sizing
Miniature
  • No side larger than 25cm
Small
  • No side larger than 55cm
Medium
  • No side larger than 85cm
Large
  • Width no larger than 1 metre  (please note, we cannot accept any work that is wider than 1 metre due to the size of our hanging stands)
  • Height no larger than 1.2 metres
Hanging
  • Secured with D rings (swivel and wire preferred.)

3D entry sizing
  • Depth x width x height
    • Small
      • up to 20x20x20cm
    • Medium
      • up to 50x50x50cm
    • Large
      • up to 80x80x150cm   ​
  • Display
    • Please supply display stand for all 3D entries. 
MEASURING, HANGING and labels
  • Each 2D entry must be ready to hang with specified hanging wire secured with D rings.
  • A hanging station will be available for last minute changes if other forms of hanging have been used. A small fee applies, with money going to Seymour and District Society. 
  • 3D art is required to have its own stand.
  • An ABtD label will be supplied for printing and must be securefly fixed to the back of each entry on the lower right hand edge.
