I have been interested in drawing and painting for most of my life. When I was quite young I used to draw with chalk on any available surface, usually the unlined walls of the old “wash house”. I don’t imagine my parents would have been too impressed with my artistic endeavours but I don’t remember them ever being angry with me.
In later years they were very encouraging and allowed me to have lessons by correspondence.
As I grew to adulthood, my interest in art waned somewhat and moved into other areas. I married and had three sons and was kept busy with my family. It was not until my boys were in their teens that I had some time to devote to my art again.
I have worked with most mediums and love them all, but pastels take the centre stage for me. I love vivid, brilliant colour, the beautiful shades and the ease of application. I have been a Member of the Seymour & District Art Society since its inception and was honoured to have been made a Life Member some years ago. I have exhibited regularly at the Old Courthouse Gallery and have in the past shared my knowledge and love of all things art with others.
