The Seymour and District Art Society’s is pleased to announce that entries are being accepted for our 2023 Art Beyond the Divide exhibition, which will be held from 24th – 26th November, 2023 at Wine X Sam, (59 -71 ANZAC Avenue, Seymour).
Through the generosity of local businesses and community organisations, the SDAS is once again offering numerous prizes, with the major prize of $1000 for the Best Artwork in Show. We are honoured to announce that this year the ABtD show is being judge by a panel of three well respected Victorian arts professionals:
We thank our judges for their generosity in supporting this year’s exhibition. We are excited at having the opportunity to once again bring together creative arts practitioners, local businesses and community groups to celebrate regional art. We also want to thank the Foundation for Rural Regional Victoria (FRRR) for their support of the Seymour and District Art Society's Creative Communities initiative via a community grant for professional display lighting. This lighting will be used for the Art Beyond the Divide 2023 show, complimenting our investment in professional art stands. As a small and regional arts collective, we value the support of fellow artists in our efforts to bring more attention to arts and creative practice in our communities. We are sure that this year will be one of the biggest and best yet, so please spread the word! ART BEYOND THE DIVIDE TO BE POSTPONED DUE TO FLOODING
NEW DATE: 25TH - 27TH NOVEMBER The S&DAS is announcing that the Art Beyond the Divide Show, which was scheduled to open Friday 14th Oct and run from Saturday 16th - Sunday 17th, has been RESCHEDULED to Friday 25th - Sunday 27th November. All entries and opening night tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates - however, if artists and other ticket holders wish to have a refund, please contact the S&DAS directly. We apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause, but we don't believe that, with the record breaking flooding still impacting on Seymour and surrounds, and the potential for further flooding still a concern, that we can reasonably proceed. We are keen, however, to have the Art Beyond the Divide Show, and have been able to work with Wine X Sam, our judges and suppliers to come up with a new date for the exhibition. We thank them for their understanding and hope that the community will show support for the show on the new date. In the meantime, we hope that everyone stays safe. With 24hrs until Opening Night at Art Beyond the Divide, things are really rolling now!! Yesterday our fantastic art stands went up at our venue, Wine X Sam, and don't they look fabulous in this great industrial space! Today is the big day for artworks, with artists arriving with their wonderful works and the hanging committee rolling up the collective sleeves to hang our exhibition. Who will win the gorgeous rosette and $1000 prize money for Most Outstanding Artwork in Show? We won't know until tomorrow - but the excitement is definitely building. We also have thousands of dollars in other prizes on offer too, and we are looking forward to recognising the contribution of our amazing artists!
The S&DAS is thrilled at the number of entries we have received for this year's Art Beyond the Divide exhibition, in all categories including our new photography categories and digital art category.
All works will be on display and available for purchase at Wine X Sam from October 14th - 16th, with the opening night starting at 7pm on Friday 14th. Winners of the major prizes, including Best Artwork in Show, will be judged by our three specialist judges and announced at the opening. We thank all of the artists who are entered the ABtD show this year, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the opening night, which is sure to be a huge event! The S&DAS is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 2022 Art Beyond the Divide Exhibition and Competition - and with over $5,000 in prize money available, along with new categories and three well respected and knowledgeable judges, it is promising to be even better than ever!
We also have the brand new bespoke art stands to show off artworks professionally and securely - ensuring that each artwork is given the opportunity to be viewed in the best way possible. We are super excited to be finally back with this amazing art show, which is unique in that it is run by artists, for artists, of all skills and backgrounds. Running from October 14th - 16th and coinciding with the Goulburn Festival, our show is back at the famous Wine X Sam (Anzac Ave, Seymour) where patrons will be able to buy a glass of excellent wine while viewing some of the best art our region has to offer. For more information contact the S&DAS or check out the Art Beyond the Divide page on our website - and remember to get your entries in before September 21st. This newspaper article appeared in the Seymour Telegraph this week and showcases our new painting stands which will be used at this year's Art Beyond the Divide.
